Brother, Bring the Sun

My time on xanga has been great, but short lived. I am reminded of the wise saying: All good things must come to an end.

I will be converting to Blogging. I have posted my first blog entry as an explantation for my xanga departure.

Friends and Family,

Well, I have converted from xanga to blogger for the following reasons:

1. Due to the expiration of my xanga premium free trial, it is now entirely too difficult to post photos on my xanga.

2. There is too much pressure to only post clever, witty comments on xanga. It's as if Xanga is a competitive world to be the most popular funny xangster and I just can't compete with superstars like littleBIGcookie. ;) I prefer the simplistic nature and calm atmosphere of the blogging world.

3. Since most of my friends have moved or are moving far away (Turkey, Hawaii, Waco, Colorado, Kansas, New York, Honduras, Tennessee, etc.) and I will be moving to Nashville in less than a month, I feel it is time I begin updating the who, what and where's of my life onto a blog.

Warning: As noted in reason 2, each entry may not be filled with wit and sarcasm as any good xanga would be, but this is not a xanga. It's my Information Center Blog. Hopefully it will indeed provide you entertainment and humor, but most importantly, keep us in touch.

So do your part:
1. Save my site to your favorites list so you can check it regularly. (I have deleted the blog address for security reasons.. email me and I will give it to you...if I know you).
2. Leave lots of comments!!!

In conclusion, I will end with the Information Center's Mission Statement:

"The Information Center strives to provide accurate data, anecdotal notes, and trivial, but entertaining stories of Vicky's life, whether it be exciting, mundane, adventurous, boring, or funny, for the purpose of providing it's readers enjoyment while creating a sense of connectedness across city, state, and country lines."

Remember: Do your part :)

Twenty Three Places
By Matt Wertz

itunes I have recently downloaded:

1. Howie Day - Stop All The World Now

2. Marc Broussard - Carencro (selected songs)

3. Matt Wertz - Twentythree Places

4. Dave Barnes - Brother, Bring the Sun

(actually Dave isn't on itunes, so I order his cd)

Questions for commenting:

Have you heard these guys?
Opinions?
If you haven't heard them, I suggest checking them out. I like them all... they kinda have the same sound.

(I also downloaded Bebo's 'Try'... it's great as well, but different genre, although kinda the same sound too... But interesting fact, from a bio on Dave Barnes: "Dave met future Essential Records recording artist and rapidly growing independent artist at the time, Bebo Norman, who saw that Dave had an unmistakable gift for bringing music and words together and encouraged him to continue developing his talent. Due to the encouragement of Bebo and friends, Dave released two records independently while still in college, and the recordings soon found their way into the hands of musician and producer Ed Cash (Caedmon's Call, Bebo Norman, Kathy Mattea)." )

Photo of Sardis City Police Department.

Thanks to my views about cops, I did not have to serve on the jury last Wednesday and I was able to go to Six Flags with my fam :)  The defense attourney asked us if we would give policemen an advantage as witnesses.  For example, if a cop testified as a witness would we automatically give the cop credibility and make it the defense lawyer's job to discredit the cop. I realized that ya I probably give more credibility just because they are cops and law enforcement is their job. Not to say that's a good bias of mine (I mean I know of cops who have not acted with credibility) but nonetheless it's how I think. (and you know I had to be honest or I think I could have been held in contempt and locked away for a max of 5 years with no parole... ok so maybe that's a little extreme ) Anyway, during jury selection time, I and all the other people who expressed the same thoughts towards cops and their testimonies were kindly dismissed (and several other people for reasons I could not tell.. maybe one of the lawyers didn't like how they looked or how they sat in their chair). While I was glad to get out early enough (I was still there for 3 hours) to go to Six Flags, it would have been interesting to serve on a jury; they actually chose three juries for three trials being tried that day (all the same defendants though... it was interesting set up... 3 trials and 8 cases total and 3 defendants all interconnected somehow.. even the judge said it was very different than usual.)  Oh and the best part is I got paid! Oh wait.. it was only 6 bucks... no matter how long you stay.. one hour, 3 hours, 8 hours... still just 6 bucks. Ha. That's the price of the gas to get there. Anyway, what an experience.

So I mean, what about you? Who do you give more credibility to?     OR    Image Preview

Haha.

I have been summoned!!!

I received my first letter for jury duty. So if you want to find me tomorrow morning, I will be at the Richardson Municipal Court fulfilling my civic duty. Hopefully they will quickly decide that I am unfit to sit on the jury because I have plans to go to Six Flags tomorrow! :) Anyway, this should be interesting... actually it'll probably boring.  I bet the case is about how some person didn't keep their lawn mowed and violated city law. awesome. yuck.

But hey, it may not be all that bad... i mean i could meet someone this way....

****************************************************

Thoughts I had today about drivers that annoy me: *it is so annoying when someone needs over in your lane and you need over in theirs but they are in your blind spot so you can't see their blinker, but they can most definitely see yours and they still feel need to race in front of you to get over instead of just getting behind you and letting you over?!? *or worse, isn't it annoying when someone speeds to get in front of you and then goes 10 mi/hr UNDER the speed limit! ugh. *and I cannot stand it when people do not use their turn signal correctly. I mean come on! we can't read your mind!

Ummm.. I'd also like to point out that I have received a grand total of 0 comments in my past two posts... is anybody out there????

Questions to answer via comments:

1.has anyone read  A New Kind of Christian by Brian McLaren (see previous 'currently reading')??

2.What are your annoying driver pet peeves?

3.Have you been summoned to jury duty? What was the crime?

He's here!! Exi! My new ipod photo :)

 iPod photo in hand

His name is Exodus, but I call him Exi for short. I decided on this name becase I had "Exodus 20:15...even music" engrave on the back. It's a reminder to myself not to own illegally downloaded music. Anyway, I am so excited about Exi. He and Jade are getting along wonderfully!! I got a cool clear click cover for Exi that protects him while still showing off his sleek design and engraving on the back.

Tomorrow I am going to buy a tape adapter so I can play songs in the car :) Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to invest in an ipod!! What a great gadget! If you don't have one.... you're missing out.

PS: Be looking for an upcoming post about the intriguing and thought provoking book I am reading.
